Singer Britney Spears has returned to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the first time since her debut single Baby One More Time, in 1999. Womanizer, the first track off her new album Circus, was boosted by first-week download sales of 286,000.
Spears has scored the biggest opening-week tally by a female artist, beating Mariah Carey with Touch My Body. Last October, top 10 single Gimme More jumped from 68 to number three, with first-week download sales of 179,000.
