I had to go on YouTube and compare Beyonce and Etta James… and laugh. There is no comparison for Etta James’ artistry.

God bless you, Etta James!!
Thank you for your candor!

Holy Cow!!!!! Because Beyonce TRIED to sing that song, the GREATEST song ever, I thought Etta had passed. What is wrong with the jug eared President that he didn’t allow this lady to do her OWN song? No one can do it better, no one. Beyonce’s voice was weak and small, as much as she tried, she cannot duplicate the one and only Etta. What a dis for Etta. This is outrageous.

Now that’s funny. I don’t care who you are. Don’t mess with old Etta. LOL

Etta James is a beauty, and an honest woman. She sings the hell out of that song, and I bet she’s even honest enough to admit she heard it from Dinah Washington (if you ain’t heard it, you ought to).
Beyonce is a step above Madonna. Maybe.

Good for Ms. James. As far as I am concerned, her song is a timeless classic, and no one else can do justice to it.

Can’t wait for all the lectures about how Ms. James, who grew up in the U.S. before Brown vs. Board of Education, can’t possibly be a “real Black”. You know, a real black like our half-black prez who probably met about 5 black people before his 15th birthday.

Bravo Ms. James! You show more class than these no-talent hollywood shills that saturate our movies and television today. You are old school and the true talents that are unfortunately getting replaced by these hacks. Thanks for speaking out and so dramatically, too. Watch your back now, though.

Well, comrades, 53% of you voted for The Fraudulent One and now we’re seeing the real B. Hussein Obama trying to shove socialist policy down our throats. It appears as if the Republicans and SOME democRATS on The Hill have finally grown a pair. They are your last hope at stopping the radical left policies of the DNC from turning us into a Soviet state.
As to Etta James…you go girl.

I’ve always loved Etta’s music, but now that I know how she feels about our new demander in chief, I’m going out and buying all her CDs. I hope more celebs come out like she did.

beyonce did a fantastic job singing at last for our wonderful president! it was a historic moment i will never forget!and yes we all know it’s etta who does it best…but who’s adding up the points for real when you keep your eye’s on the big picture.etta made herself look very small by her comments…and she sounded like a drunk old hateful has been.i expected a lot more from her…and then i remembered!

p.s.
etta is an older beautiful women now who’s rich and powerful voice i will always remember. her turbulent past will forever render respect from me! she is to be honored for her legacy! a true legend! this is why i’m disturbed when i here her mouth and thoughts become convoluted. may peace prevail!

Well, have any of you seen a picture of Etta lately? She looks like a horror movie stand in. Can’t blame Obongo for that call.
Comment by Morrisminor — February 6, 2009 @ 8:09 am
was Etta invited to the president’s inauguration at all?

Etta James might have been the first to sing this song but she sounds like crap!!! Beyounce sings this song like an angel. I think Etta should be damn proud that her song is finally getting some attention again. She is an ugly, nasty old lady and is just mad because Beyounce is young, beautiful and a much better singer.
Get off the Ego trip etta and get in a wheelchair.
