Etta James spoke with the Daily News and took a moment to explain that she meant no harm when she made fun of Barrack Obama and Beyonce. “I didn’t really mean anything,” James said. “Even as a little child, I’ve always had that comedian kind of attitude. …That’s probably what went into it.” James said she was “feeling left out of something that was basically mine, that I had done every time you look around.” Etta also claims that she could have done a better job than Beyonce.
She continued to defend her actions, “Nobody was getting mad at me in Seattle,” she said. “They were all laughing, and it was funny.” James believes, “[Obama was] always handsome and he was cool. I still had my joke about him. That might be horrible. The president might not ever like me in life. He’s got other stuff [to worry about] besides Etta James.”
Etta James. Beyonce. Two hoodrats both trying to claim “At Last” as their own own.
Glenn Miller made “At Last” famous about 16 years before Etta James got to it.
But don’t let that stop you Etta from slapping Beyonce’s face she needs it.
