Here’s a squirrel eating a lemon. He (she?) doesn’t even make that sour squinty face that you’d expect. I’m concerned. Does this mean that squirrels can show no emotion? Do they not have the few muscles it takes to smile?! Omg. I’m suddenly overcome with an overwhelming feeling of sadness for all the squirrels out there. Meh… who are we kidding, this thing is pretty cute.
I found a baby squirrel abandoned in my yard. I know someone who is knows about wildlife rahab. We fed her a special formula through a syringe. We were going to release her but she got spooked just by the wind outside soooo.. Today she is a happy and spoiled pet. It’s like having a guinea pig or chinchilla. And yes..they have emotions. The moment we walk in the door..she comes to the cage (think large ferret type cage) waiting for her “treat”. We take her out & let her run around the room for awhile. She is really good..doesn’t try to chew on anything. But as she has gotten older..she likes the comfort of her cage.
And while this squirrel likes the lemon..mine probably wouldn’t. She likes oranges but thats about as tart as she goes. We feed her fresh veggies every day.
love it, I thought y’all treated squirrels like they were vermin?? h’uh? (who m I?)
