There was some debate over who was going to foot the bill for the Michael Jackson memorial service at the Staples center and now LA mayor, Antonia Villaraigosa has determined that the citizens of Los Angeles will pay for it with their tax monies. The city is going to pick up the estimated $1.4 million tab for police protection, traffic control and other services and has no plans to bill the Jackson Family or AEG (the company that owns the Staples center). “This is a world-class city, and we provide fire and police protection. Period. The idea that we would charge the family for a funeral is nonsensical,” the mayor said.
