Robert Downey Jr. has reportedly dropped out of ‘Cowboys & Angels’ (a Dreamworks/Universal sci-fi project that was about Old West cowboys and indians against a group of aliens with superior technology) in order to star in a second installment of Sherlock Holmes. While Holmes has not been approved for filming or pre-production, the film has been fast tracked due to the success of the first one (it’s earned upwards of $300 million in the box office). Warner Brothers commisioned a script back in September and is locking down a cast for a June start date, which would have been a schedule conflict for Downey.
