It’s about time that American Idol step it up and get someone with some musical talent in the judges seat. Mary J. Blige will be a guest judge for the American Idol auditions in Atlanta. So far, Victoria Beckham has been filling Paula’s empty seat… “The judges and production team have been having a lot of fun with Victoria. She’s has a great response so far, and has been really warm with the contestants.” Umm… warm? Seriously? That’s the last word I’d associate with Victoria Beckham.

Paula Abdul is the perpetual drama queen and she’s keeping that title for sure. She’s been complaining to friends that the other reason she’s leaving American Idol is because they won’t reimburse her for her first class air travel, her hair or her make-up people. I mean, it’s all understandable and I’d be pissed, too… but still. It’s time to give it a rest, don’t ya think?

Victoria Beckham is rumored to be replacing Paula Abdul for the next season of American Idol. I’ll be honest, I have no effing clue what season we’re on because I hate the show. Anyway, Posh will begin filming this week and has agreed to guest judge in the last two episodes. Sources say, “Victoria is hugely flattered as this is one of the highest profile gigs in America. It really is a big deal. Her husband David may be getting a bit of stick at the moment but Victoria’s profile Stateside has never been higher. Network bosses would love to give her the job full-time and it looks like it’s there for her is she wants it. But at the moment, Victoria’s main priority is fashion. She really doesn’t need any distractions. However, [her] appearance on American Idol is sure to provide a massive ratings boost in the UK so, really, everyone’s a winner.”

Wow. Congrats to her… I think? Doesn’t really sound like she’s too stoked about it…

Prior to announcing she was leaving American Idol for good last night, Paula Abdul requested a giant raise and failed to get it. The New York Times is claiming the salary increase (which was $2M last season) was “substantial”. The Times reports that the producers offered Paula a 30% raise and a total multi-year deal worth more than $10M. Abdul requested $20M.

Before you say, ‘wtf? that’s a $hit load of cash money!’ take a gander at what the other make…
Ryan Seacrest - 3 years at $45M
Simon Cowell - (if he resigns) $100M per year

Seacrest said, “As far and I know, it’s real. Obviously, she has her reasons for doing it, and if she didn’t feel like she was getting what she needed, then I understand that, too.”

Last night, Paula Abdul confirmed (through her Twitter) that she will not be returning to American Idol. Fox issued a statement saying, “Paula Abdul has been an important part of the ‘American Idol‘ family over the last eight seasons and we are saddened that she has decided not to return to the show. While Paula will not be continuing with us, she’s a tremendous talent and we wish her the best.” Which pretty much means, ‘Sucks to be you, Paula cause now you’ll be a reoccuring guest star on Kathy Griffin’s ‘My Life On The D-List’. We were all you had and you just screwed yourself into oblivion. Congrats and don’t let the door hit your @ss on the way out. Peace, b$tch.’

Ryan Seacrest is making bank. Apparently he just signed a three-year deal with the parent company of American Idol, worth $15 million per year. He is now officially the highest paid reality TV show host. Previously, he’s been making less than $5 million per season. Aww… what a freaking shame.
