Kate Gosselin remarked, “As difficult as this has been for me, I am pleased that the Court has ruled fairly on behalf of myself and my children. Now that this matter has been ruled on, I look forward to returning to private arbitration, as we have agreed to do, to resolve any remaining issues.”

“She’s a manifester, if there ever was one,” he says. “First-rate manifester. Madonna makes things happen. Put Madonna up against any twenty-three-year-old, she’ll outwork them, outdance them, outperform them. The woman is broad.”

“Broad,” I say, repeating the word of the day.

“And, of course, here you go: I still love her,” he says. He takes a breath, drives through a red light. If no one is ahead of him, Guy Ritchie does not typically stop. “But she’s retarded, too.”

It’s rocky getting a divorce, innit? I say.

“You can’t tell someone when they’re getting divorced that their pain is an illusion,” he says. “I’m f*cking telling you, I feel it, I’ve been through that. You have, too. No one can say you don’t feel that.”

Celebrity lawyer Marty Singer, a litigation attorney for Kate, tells PEOPLE that Jon never warned Kate he was going to remove the large sum of money from their account last week, even though the court had told them not to take significant amounts from joint accounts without the other’s approval. Singer says he e-mailed a stern letter to Jon’s attorney on Friday but he hasn’t heard back.

“They have not responded. I’m sure he will respond by going on another TV show,” says Singer, who noted that Jon’s move flies in the face of comments Jon made to Larry King that he’d like to put the brakes on his divorce.

“Of course she’s upset,” Singer says.

The banking fiasco caps an intensely bitter week between the couple, during which their TLC series Jon & Kate Plus Eight suspended production. The move followed the network’s announcement on Sept. 29 that Jon was being dropped from the show, and him saying he wanted to halt the show because it was damaging to his eight children.

“She wanted to get away from Deryck and have a weekend to herself,” says a source close to the “Sk8er Boi” singer. A spy at celebrity eatery Georgica indeed saw Lavigne getting away - but hardly spending any time alone. Instead, says the onlooker, she was partying hard and hanging with a number of male admirers. Only later in the evening did Lavigne get paranoid about what the nearby paparazzi may have captured on film. “She kept running up to the photographers and asking to see the pictures they took,” says one party goer. (We’ve noticed that those photos have mysteriously disappeared from at least one site on which they were posted.)

Trouble has been brewing since early this year for Lavigne and Whibley, who haven’t been photographed together since last December - and things have gotten significantly colder between the two since the summer heated up. Whibley attended the L.A. premiere of “Transformers” solo on June 22, while his missus jetted off to Saint-Tropez for a week with her girlfriends. One vacationer at the celeb-studded Riviera getaway spilled that she was definitely enjoying the paradise and pina coladas, perhaps a little bit too much.

So what does this mean for Lavigne’s upcoming album, which her Sum 41 husband was supposed to be helping her with?

Industry insiders say that although the two have already worked together on a few tracks for the CD, due out Nov. 17, Lavigne will be going ahead with it solo - just like her weekend in the Hamptons.

Reps for both Lavigne and Whibley didn’t respond to calls for comment.
