Before Kanye West rushed the stage at the MTV Video Music Awards, the singer was filmed on the awards show’s red carpet drinking Hennessey cognac straight from the bottle. Now, the next logical thing has happened: people are talking about West going to rehab.

Star magazine and other publications are reporting that West is blaming alcohol for his breach in decorum, and that as soon as West wraps his “Fame Kills” tour with Lady Gaga this January, he’ll head to rehab.

West hasn’t blogged about it, there was no comment from his camp, and friends close to West say it’s not true, so maybe this is just the product of a game of telephone gone awry during a slow news week.

“Blake did a runner. He turned up in hospital and hell broke loose — everyone was totally shocked. He was asking Amy to forgive him. As he was going back inside anyway he felt he didn’t have much to lose.” A source said: “If he had stayed in prison last month rather than taking the rehab option he was set to be released at the end of this month. He’s blown it.” Amy’s friend said yesterday: “She had finally started stepping up divorce proceedings again but he started phoning again and getting inside her mind.”

Glassy-eyed, Amy Winehouse was carted off cackling and grinning through stained teeth to her latest London clinic. But the 25-year- old star’s disappearance will further frustrate the Metropolitan Police.

The Rehab star— who has not been seen in public for more than a week — made her getaway just two days after failing to turn up for a meeting with cops after allegedly hitting a woman fan. Police had warned she faced arrest if she didn’t show up.

But last night American pal Blake Wood helped her into the cab which ferried her away as she rolled around in the back. Soon she was safely hidden in an exclusive Harley Street Clinic. Dad Mitch said she was suffering from a “chest infection.”

She Isn’t A Drunk Or A Druggie, She’s Just Sad:

“I went there for depression” she said, desperately trying to muster up a range of tones in her otherwise flat and bland voice.

“It was a good six months before I decided to go away. I was struggling, and I had the opportunity to go somewhere and take care of myself. I was fortunate to have the resources to do it. My friends and family thought it was a good idea, too. But I didn’t know where to go. My doctor recommended Cirque Lodge.”

At least she turned to doctors and rehab rather than turn to drugs and alcohol. Good for you, Mary Jane!
